1876-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. Winter 1-A, the only known dies. Just shy of a Condition Census rating, this pleasingly original copper-gold representative is the first XF45 1876-CC Eagle to appear in one of our Signature Sales since 1998. While this issue is often more powerfully impressed than the 1872-1875 Eagles from the Nevada branch mint, the present example is still a little softly defined on the hair curls over Liberty's brow. The corresponding area (lower eagle) on the reverse is also a little blunt, but all other areas are appreciably sharp for the grade. A partially lustrous survivor with a typical abrasion count. Most often encountered in grades below the Choice XF level, the 1876-CC (4,696 pieces produced) is the eighth rarest Carson City Eagle. From the Ashland City Collection.
