1876 $5 XF45 PCGS. In 1876, gold coins did not circulate except on the West Coast, which was covered by the San Francisco Mint. Most gold denominations had token business strike productions at Philadelphia, made primarily to prevent the proofs from becoming great contemporary rarities. Nonetheless, no commercial three dollar pieces were issued, and the mintage of half eagles was limited to 1,432 pieces. Most of these have long since been melted. This lightly worn apricot-gold example is free from relevant marks. The strike is good although portions of the curls and eagle are incomplete. Population: 4 in 45, 14 finer (9/06).
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
