<B>1876 20C PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> The twenty-cent piece, or double dime as it was sometimes called, was a creation of Congressmen from the silver producing states, sponsored by Senator John Percival Jones of Nevada. It proved to be unpopular due to its size and design, both nearly identical to the quarter dollar. An entirely different design might have helped, although the more recent Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea dollar coinages show that even a different design was not sufficient to promote circulation.<BR> An amazing proof, this Premium Gem has gorgeous gold, sea-green, and iridescent toning, with sky blue on the reverse. The devices on both sides are sharp and intricately defined.
