1876 $10 AU55 PCGS. With a tiny original production of only 732 business strikes, the 1876 has the second lowest mintage in the entire Coronet Eagle series after the 1875. Although less rare than the 1873 and 1875, survivors of this issue are more difficult to locate than those of the 1863, 1872, and 1877. Only 15-20 pieces are believed extant today, and most survivors grade either VF or XF. The business strikes of this year are distinguished from proofs by the lack of rust pits on the neck of Liberty and by the presence of die file marks below LIB and through ERTY in LIBERTY. One of only a handful of AU specimens known, this flashy, well struck coin shows ample remnants of its prooflike finish despite an overall scuffy appearance. Attractive reddish-gold color adorns both sides. An opportunity of considerable importance for advanced gold collectors. Population: 1 in 55, 0 finer (11/01). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium.
