<B>1875-S $5 AU55 NGC.</B></I> AU55 is a very high grade for this low mintage, heavily circulated issue. Garrett and Guth (2006) remarked as follows: "Nearly all of the examples seen on the bourse floors and at auction are well worn. The average grade for the issue is among the lowest of the series." This example does not seem overgraded, and displays ample remaining design detail for the grade. Originally well struck, it is now modestly worn with numerous small abrasions on each side.
