1875 G$1 MS65 PCGS. This coin was previously offered as lot 6697 in our February 2002 Long Beach Signature Sale, where the description was: "As is the case with many Gold Dollars from this era, the majority of extant examples from the 1875 delivery are Mint State, and a reasonable percentage of these coins are high grade. One must not forget, however, that only 400 business strike 1875 Gold Dollars were produced, and the number of survivors may be as low as 45 coins. As a result, the appearance at auction of a Gem 1875 Gold Dollar is always an occasion of pride for the auctioneer, and [an important] opportunity for bidders. "This is a solidly graded MS65 representative whose surfaces display the modest, yet appreciable prooflike finish that characterizes most survivors of this issue. A reddish-gold coin, [all features] are smooth with no areas of bothersome striking incompleteness." To this description we add that a tiny planchet flaw (as struck, and hardly distracting) on the obverse portrait at the junction of Liberty's cheek and neck is a noteworthy pedigree marker. The spine-like projection from the bottom of Liberty's chin is diagnostic of all business strike 1875 Gold Dollars. Population: 8 in 65, 1 finer (7/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
