<B>1875 G$1 MS61 Prooflike NGC.</B></I> Any 1875 gold coin except the double eagle is an instant magnet for enthusiasts of rare-date gold, since all other denominations were produced in minuscule quantities, totaling 1,120 business strikes for the gold dollar through the eagle. In the case of the gold dollar the mintage was a paltry 400 pieces, accompanied by 15 proofs, so it is little wonder that most of the circulation strikes are prooflike.
