<B>1875-CC 20C MS64 PCGS.</B></I> Paul Green, in a September 2, 2003 <I>Numismatic News</B></I> article, speculates about the rarity of the 1875-CC twenty cent coin. He says: The 20-cent piece was definitely disliked and if it was quickly retired and destroyed, is the 133,290 mintage of the 1875-CC al that reliable, or were many perhaps destroyed, making it tougher than the already low mintage?" Regardless of the answer, MS64 examples of this issue can be difficult to locate. This example displays light golden-gray patina and relatively well struck design elements, save for softness on portions of the eagle.
