1875-CC $20 MS63 PCGS. With a six-figure mintage and generally strong eye appeal, the 1875-CC is one of the double eagle issues of choice for numismatists seeking a single Carson City double eagle. The enticing piece offered here follows the rule and offers tremendous aesthetic appeal along with an uncommonly high level of preservation. The orange-tinged yellow-gold surfaces have swirling, frosty luster with a hint of flash. The devices are well-defined overall, though a few of the stars show softness. Light, scattered abrasions appear on each side, more on the obverse than on the reverse, but none of the flaws are singularly distracting, and the coin's appearance is immensely pleasing. One could hardly ask for a better example, as NGC and PCGS have certified just two finer pieces between them (6/07).

Coin Engraver: James B.
