Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. According to the USPatterns.com website, Although described as regular dies trial pieces, these were more likely deliberately struck for sale to collectors as part of complete sets. The same website estimates that only two or three pieces are believed known in aluminum. This is undoubtedly the finest example known, and in fact, this is one of the finest aluminum patterns we have ever seen of any design or year. There is no trace of oxidation anywhere on this coin. A few tiny planchet flaws are seen in the fields with the aid of a magnifier, but none are visible without a loupe. The surfaces are bright and the fields are very deeply mirrored with sharply contrasting cameo devices. A memorable aluminum pattern. </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><A name=PricesRealized></A><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=100% bgColor=000000 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=100%><TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3 width=100% border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=100% bgColor=79735c><A name=PR><FONT face=arial color=ffffff size=3><B>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</B> </FONT></A></TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=f6f6ed>No Prior Data Recorded </TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=ffffff><FONT face=arial size=1 ?>PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
