1875 25C PR64 PCGS. According to the 2007 Guide Book,
1875 25C PR64 PCGS. Type One Reverse. According to the 2007 Guide Book, 700 proof quarters were struck in 1875, while Larry Briggs (1991) gives a number of 630 pieces. In any event, Briggs further contends the 1875 is the rarest of the 1870s and 1880s proof quarters, saying that: "Possibly the mintage being incorrect or many proofs of this year being melted. Regardless quite elusive and underrated." The near-Gem in this lot displays cobalt-blue, lavender, and gold-tan patina in the fields. Sharply struck design elements are silver-gray, and are highlighted by reflective fields at all angles. Some faint, inoffensive hairlines prevent a higher grade. Population: 35 in 64, 11 finer (2/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
