This lot showcases a very neat piece of equine and military history in the form of a Model 1874 McClellan Saddle, saddle bag, as well as the bridle and bit, designed by career Army Officer - George B. McCllelan. Featuring fine leather, genuine horse hair cinchas, carved wooden stirrups, and brass rigging rings. This saddle is a 12" seat. Along with the fine materials used for this Calvary saddle, you will also notice many stampings claiming it to be US Military property, as well as two plaques on the bridle that boast the bald eagle. All in all, this fine early saddle is in good condition especially for the age, you will find few scuffs to the leather however, as well, the bit is believed to be unmatched. The saddle includes the stand, an extra cinch, as well as the cowhide used to accentuate the entire display. 21 5/8" tall, 16" wide, 10" deep.
