1874 T$1 PR63 PCGS. Despite the 700-piece mintage, 1874 proof Trade dollars are not that easy to obtain, especially in the better levels of preservation. This PR63 specimen displays noticeable field-motif contrast at all angles of view. Delicate yellow-gold patination bathes each side, and is accented with splashes of cobalt-blue and lavender. A powerful strike has imparted excellent definition to the design elements. Interestingly, some tiny as-struck "pimples" are scattered about the obverse, especially in the left field. We speculate that these may result from light die rust, or perhaps from improper preparation during the die-making process. At any rate, they do not distract. A few unobtrusive hairlines in the fields define the grade. Population: 46 in 63, 49 finer (1/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
