1874-CC $5 AU58 PCGS. Gold experts Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth note that "The 1874-CC is one of the more commonly available early-issue half eagles from the Carson City Mint. Quite a few examples have been offered at auction in the last 15 years, most in the Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated range." Of the 21,198 pieces struck, NGC and PCGS combined have certified only two Mint State pieces, both MS62 PCGS (4/07). A specialist seeking a Mint State example may never see one offered. PCGS has graded only eight pieces in AU58. The present specimen is only the third AU58 piece that we have offered in the past six years. This is a sharply struck tan-gold example with no mentionable impairments, save for a single scrape on Liberty's cheek near the hairline. Most of the luster is intact under minor field chatter, and the eye appeal is significant. An old clash mark is noted on the reverse. Population: 7 in 58, 2 finer (4/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
