1873 Winchester First Model saddle ring carbine in .44-40 caliber showing considerable original blue finish and remaining in very good plus to near fine original condition, serial number 12344. Thebarrel and magazine tube show 80% to 90% original blue with some losses on the edges and some nicks on the top of the barrel 1 to 2 inches behind the front sight. The barrel address is sharp and crisp. The barrel andframe show W.P. in circle (return to the factory proofs) with 44 W. C. F. marking which indicates a factory replacement barrel. The frame shows 75% to 85% original and bright blue with some losses at the edges,minor scratches and slight streaking. The hammer and loading lever show 60% to 70% case hardening going slightly light but is still colorful. The stocks are very crisp with excellent wood to metal fit and are at leastvery good plus. The butt plate shows traces of original color. The bands show considerable bright original finish. The rear sight and front sight are the early first model style. The dust cover shows 10% to 20%
