1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1301, Pollock-1443, R.7-8, PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. A seated figure of Liberty faces left on the obverse. Thirteen stars surround her with the date, 1873, below. She supports a pole with a liberty cap in her right hand, her left hand rests on a globe inscribed LIBERTY. Bales of cotton are present at her feet, a plow and a sheaf of wheat are behind her. An eagle stands on a rock on the reverse. Its wings are spread and it holds three arrows in its right talon and supports a shield with its left. A scroll crosses the shield and is inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is above the eagle's head and wings, its beak holds a scroll inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM. Below the eagle are the weight, 420 GRAINS, the standard for the Trade dollar, 900 FINE, and the denomination TRADE DOLLAR. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is a very scarce pattern that has brightly reflective mirrors in the fields. Each side is overlaid with a deep, oil-slick iridescence that is most attractive. A pleasing example of this pattern rarity. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
