1873 T$1 PR64 Cameo NGC. The first-year 1873 is the rarest proof in the 1873-1883 Trade dollar series. These coins were unpopular with collectors at the time of issue, with the result that many were spent or otherwise mishandled. Many of the survivors are noticeably hairlined, if not out and out impaired, and unevenness of strike is also a factor that today's collectors need to take into account when looking for a suitable representative for their collection. This is a pleasing coin from the standpoint of originality. Both sides are evenly toned in tan-gray shades with incomplete halos of electric-blue and crimson-russet shadings at the denticles. The strike is typically uneven, but all focal features are at least sufficiently defined. Neither side displays an excessive number of distracting hairlines, but several faint, well scattered toning spots are evident at a few angles. Census: 9 in 64 Cameo, 4 finer (2/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
