This lot features a great example of a 1873 Springfield .45-70 Caliber Cavalary Carbine. This is a fine early carbine with all the correct features including sling ring bar, trap in butt plate for cleaning rods, “C” marked carbine rear sight etc. A true original U.S. issued carbine made for the Indian Wars, uncleaned beautifully aged metal has a smooth exterior and shows no evidence of rust or abuse, correct “U.S. MODEL 1873” marked breech block, clear “U.S. Springfield 1873” marked lock plate with eagle motif, correct stock, exc. mechanics, a fine unaltered early Indian Wars cavalry Trapdoor carbine, This is the standard model that was used in every major engagement from the Battle of the Rosebud and Battle of the Little Bighorn to Wounded Knee. The carbine was manufactured 1880. Antique firearms. NO FFL transfer or NICS background check. Serial number is 124054.
