<B>1873-S<$20> Open 3 AU53 PCGS.</B></I> The San Francisco Mint struck more than 1 million double eagles in 1873, but most were the Closed 3 variety. Apparently, Open 3 dies took their time in their long journey from Philadelphia to the West coast. This partly lustrous older holder example is attractive despite moderate marks near the front of Liberty's neck. Certified in a green label holder.
