1873-S $10 AU58 NGC. The mintage of 12,000 pieces goes far toward explaining the absolute rarity of the 1873-S. However, it is a significant condition rarity as well. Most examples, when this issue is found, are VF or at best XF. Almost Uncirculated coins are unquestionably rare. At the AU58 level, this piece is tied with several others as second finest known. The finest known is a PCGS MS61 from the Harry Bass Collection.
This piece has a surprisingly strong strike on both obverse and reverse. The orange-gold surfaces are free from any mentionable marks, and the devices are surrounded by a noticeable trace of luster.

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
