1873-CC S$1--Cleaned--ANACS. VF Details, Net Fine 12. The final-year '73-CC is not the lowest mintage of the four Carson City Mint deliveries in the Seated Dollar series. That honor belongs to the 1871-CC. The former date, however, is the rarest in this group with many of the 2,300 pieces produced believed to have been melted after the Mint Act of February 12, 1873 abolished the Silver Dollar. While not problem-free, the coin in this lot presents remarkably well despite a cleaning. There are no sizeable or individually distracting abrasions, and the surfaces are evenly worn with suitably bold detail remaining over many of the design elements. Notably, the LI and TRY in LIBERTY are present. The subdued, somewhat glossy surfaces display a silver-gray sheen that deepens to russet outlines around many of the devices. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
