<b>1873-CC Liberty Seated Half Dollar. No arrows. NGC graded MS63.</b> The 1873-CC No Arrows is one of two half dollar &#34;Types&#34; struck at the Carson City Mint this year. Only 122,500 coins were produced of the No Arrows design, a total that is in line with the similarly scarce 1871-CC &#40;153,950 coins. Most 1871-CC half dollars circulated extensively; most 1873-CC No Arrows half dollar never actually found their way into the channels of commerce but were melted after passage of the Mint Act of February 12, 1873 forced the Carson City Mint forced a weight change. The bullion derived from the melted No Arrows coins was used for the With Arrows halves.

Today, this 1873-CC No Arrows is rare coin in all grades. The wonderful technical excellence of this Mint State 63 suggests that it may have been part of an old-time estate or &#34;name&#34; collection. Frosty mint luster swirls to and fro over both sides and the dusky smoke-gold to light gray patina increases the sense of originality all the more. Since the toning is light, it gives a boost to the overall eye appeal. The strike details are basically full; best of all, any abrasions are tiny and virtually unnoticeable. There is nothing that would cast doubt upon the NGC MS63 grade. NGC Pop: 1, with 2 higher &#40;05/06&#41;.
