1873-CC $10 Fine 12 PCGS. Winter 2-A. Writing in 2001, Doug Winter and Jim Halperin rank the 1873-CC as the rarest Carson City Mint Eagle from both absolute and high grade standpoints. This extensively worn example is rather well preserved for the Fine grade level. The wear is evenly distributed with ample remaining definition over the major design elements. Both sides possesses an original appearance with deeply set olive-honey color and some brighter orange-gold overtones that are evident at direct angles. Some scattered abrasions are seen here and there, a few of which are moderate in size, yet still well within the context of the assigned grade. A find for the circulated CC-mint gold specialist.
