1873 3CS PR66 PCGS. Many of the 600 proof 1873 Three Cent Silvers originally produced were melted at the Mint on July 10 of that year. All examples of this final-year issue display a Closed 3 in the date, many are richly toned, and at least 300 specimens trace their pedigree to a hoard once owned by Mint publicist A. M. Smith. Rich copper-russet and lavender-gray colors overlay both sides in a dappled fashion. Direct angles reveal not only appreciable reflectivity in the fields, but vivid undertones in gold, pink, and orange-red shades. There is not a single ill-defined feature on either side of this smooth, expertly preserved Gem. Population: 11 in 66, with only two finer (10/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
