1873 $20 Open 3 MS63 PCGS. The Open 3 is the more common of the two 1873 varieties. The obverse die shows minor doubling, particularly on LIBERTY. Bright and lustrous with clean surfaces and plenty of eye appeal. This is a decently struck coin, despite partial weakness on four or five of the obverse stars. It shows flashy yellow-gold color throughout and excellent surfaces for the assigned grade. According to Garrett and Guth: "In Mint State this issue is scarce, as are all Type 2 double eagles. Most are in grades of MS-60 to MS-61. Choice examples are actually quite rare and seldom available. Just a few examples are known above MS-63. A PCGS MS-63 coin sold in May 2005 for $9,200." Population: 95 in 63, 5 finer (11/06).
From The Freedom Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
