<B>1873 $2 1/2 Closed 3 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> The 1873 Closed 3, with a business strike mintage of 55,200 pieces, is available through the middle grades of Uncirculated. Near-Gems are elusive, and pieces in the higher levels of preservation are rare. Indeed, only 10 examples have been certified MS65 by PCGS and NGC, and a mere two pieces finer (2/07). A well executed strike has emboldened the design elements of the Gem in this lot, and both sides are awash in potent luster.
