1873 1C Doubled LIBERTY MS62 Red and Brown...
1873 1C Doubled LIBERTY MS62 Red and Brown ANACS. Snow-1. This is the rarer and much more valuable of the two Doubled Die Cents of 1873, properly called a Class V, with pivoted hub doubling, the pivot at 6 o'clock. This Doubled Die was discovered by Walter Breen in 1957, and unlike most numismatic discoveries, very few examples have surfaced in the intervening four decades. We estimate that perhaps only 12-15 Snow-1 Cents are extant today in mint condition. Much of the original mint red color remains on each side with just a trace of brown evident. This piece is most easily identified (for pedigree purposes) by a planchet flaw just above the end of the right portion of the wreath on the reverse. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium.
