<B>1873 1C Closed 3 PR65 Red PCGS.</B></I> Bold N in ONE. At least 1,100 proof 1873 Indian cents were produced, all of which display a Closed 3 in the date. Since the business strike Closed 3 cent is a challenging coin to locate in all Mint State grades, proofs are often called upon to represent the issue in specialized collections. As a fully red Gem, however, the present specimen is an important and rare coin in its own right. Modestly reflective fields form a backdrop to the sharply brought up devices, and crimson motifs yield to copper-gold in the fields. In a green label holder.
