1872 T$1 Commercial Dollar, Judd-1212, Pollock-1352, R.6-7, PR64 PCGS. The obverse has Longacre's design as used previously on the Standard Silver series in bold, medallic relief. The reverse has the Commercial Dollar design, first executed in the previous year and weighing 420 grains, thus the predecessor to the adopted Trade Dollar. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. A beautifully toned survivor of the type, rich antique-copper toning envelops both sides. The obverse reveals salmon-pink undertones with a ring of electric-blue tinting at the denticles. This is a historically significant pattern, and the present representative is sharply impressed with no outwardly distracting blemishes. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
