1872 S$1 MS65 PCGS. The 1872 had a record mintage for the Seated dollar series with more than 1.1 million pieces struck. Many were exported and others were returned to the Treasury in later years. Plentifully available in circulated grades, the 1872 is generally regarded as the ultimate type coin for the series in less-than-Gem condition. However, in MS65 PCGS has only certified one other piece, and NGC has graded three in this condition (3/07). None are finer at either service. The main drawing card for this exceptional Gem is its luster. It is heavily frosted and rolls around each side as the coin is slowly rotated beneath a light. Untoned, the brilliant surfaces allow full appreciation of the mint luster and clean surfaces. Just a bit of striking softness at the top half of the obverse is the only detraction on this lovely coin.
From The Palakika Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
