1872 Greeley & Brown Jugate Sheet Music. Two pages, 10" x 13" each, framed and matted under glass to an overall size of 26" x 17.5", published by J.L. Peters, New York, 1872, in fine condition. The cover has beautifully detailed portraits of Liberal Republican presidential candidate Horace Greeley and running mate Benjamin Gratz Brown. Above them an American eagle rests on two crossed American flags. The songs are "Greeley & Brown's Galop sic to the White House," "Greeley's Grand March," "Greeley's Favorite Polka," "Good Bye Ulysses, or We're Falling into Line," "The Farmer Goes Chopping on His Way," and "He Always Wears an Old White Hat." Greeley was dealt a crushing defeat in the election. Greeley's troubles did not end with the election. Shortly after his defeat his wife died, he was defrauded in a diamond and gemstone hoax, he lost control of the New York Tribune, and, his spirit broken, he died. 1872 was just not Horace Greeley's year.

Shipping: Framed (view shipping information)
