<B>1872 3CS MS64 PCGS.</B></I> The difference between proofs and business strikes can be small, and for the 1872 trime, which has a much smaller surviving population of the latter than the former, that variance is critical. While this essentially untoned example has mirrored surfaces and light frost on the devices, the lower stars on the reverse display softness inconsistent with a proof. An amazing example of this elusive issue, which originally consisted of just 1,000 pieces and faced heavy melting in 1873.
