<B>1872 25C PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> The brilliant, silver-white surfaces are untoned, with deep mint frost on the devices, undoubtedly appearing much the same as they did when this piece dropped from the proof dies 135 years ago. This gorgeous specimen is well struck and distraction-free, although a strong loupe reveals a die cut on the left shield border. This diagnostic, mentioned in the Breen proof <I>Encyclopedia,</B></I> is present on all proof quarters of this date. Gem business strikes of this issue are nearly nonexistent, so this piece should represent a great opportunity for some lucky Seated quarter specialist.
