<B>1872 25C PR65 NGC.</B></I> This deeply toned Gem proof displays electric-blue color at the margins that yields to lavender and then golden-tan in the central areas. Unlike many proofs of the 1870s that, according to Walter Breen (1977), were carelessly made and poorly struck, this example is strongly and uniformly impressed throughout, thereby adding to its stunning eye appeal. Both sides have been well cared for.
