1872 1C PR65 Red NGC.
1872 1C PR65 Red NGC. The reverse die that the Philadelphia Mint used to deliver all 950 proof Indian cents in 1872 displays an enlarged right pendant on the T in CENT. According to Breen (1977), this die was also used to produce proof cents in 1873, 1874, 1875, and, possibly, 1878. On a coin per coin basis, unimpaired proofs of this issue are more readily available than Mint State business strikes. As most of the former lack fully lustrous features, however, the present Gem deserves serious bidder consideration. This is an evenly colored, orange-red coin whose surfaces are free of bothersome striking incompleteness. There are no post-production distractions, and the eye appeal is commensurate with the impressive level of preservation. Population: 11 in 65, 3 finer (11/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
