A paltry mintage of 1,650 pieces accounts for this issue's extreme rarity as well as its condition rarity. Only five pieces have been certified in all grades of Uncirculated by both of the major services (1/03). As with the other (very few other) high grade examples we have seen of this issue, the fields have a confirmed reflectivity, due no doubt to the short striking period for business strikes and the subsequent brightness that remained on the dies from the initial die polishing before the first coin was struck. Fully struck throughout, the surfaces display a light, even reddish patina over each side and the devices have an overlay of light mint frost. Lightly abraded on each side, but we do not see any marks that could be used as reliable pedigree identifiers. </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><A name=PricesRealized></A><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=100% bgColor=000000 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=100%><TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3 width=100% border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=100% bgColor=79735c><A name=PR><FONT face=arial color=ffffff size=3><B>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</B> </FONT></A></TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=f6f6ed>No Prior Data Recorded </TD></TR><TR><TD bgColor=ffffff><FONT face=arial size=1 ?>PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
