<B>1872 $1 PR62 PCGS.</B></I> Of the 950-piece mintage of 1872 proof Seated Liberty dollars, David Bowers (1993) says: " ... some Proofs probably remained unsold (from their inclusion in minor and silver Proof sets) at the end of the year and were melted in 1873." Whispers of light tan-gold color rest upon this PR62 specimen. Some field-motif contrast is noted, and all of the design features are exquisitely struck.
