<B>1872 $1 MS64 NGC. CAC.</B></I> The 1872 was coined in larger quantities than any other issue of the design (more than 1.1 million pieces). Yet, examples in the higher levels of Mint State are elusive. Lustrous, champagne-silver color adorns both sides of this near-Gem, and a well-executed strike imparts strong definition to the design elements. A few minuscule marks and luster grazes preclude Gem status.
