Half Dollars 1871 PCGS graded Proof 65. <b>Beautifully toned surfaces that are lavender-gray with a steel blue sheen glistening on both sides. The fields are highly mirrored, devices frosted and in stark, sharp relief. Proofs consisted of 960 pieces made for the Proof sets this year; none could be acquired separately, hence the reason the few known survivors tend to be nicely toned (if they haven't been dipped, which all too many have, unfortunately).
