<B>1871<img border='0' src='http://www.heritagecoins.com/images/star.gif' width=10 height=10>$1> PR65 PCGS.</B></I> The proof mintage in 1871 was 960 pieces, although Gem examples today are elusive and finer specimens are seldom seen. This is a high-end Gem, however, and as such should appeal to numerous audiences, including Seated Liberty specialists as well as collectors of high-grade type coins. The delightful toning is iridescent blue and amber-gold, with glints of magenta near the rims. The light toning is translucent, however, allowing generous quantities of luster to radiate from beneath. The strike is full and well balanced in all areas. Population: 19 in 65, 3 finer (9/06).
