1871 S$1 PR63 PCGS. A total of 960 proof dollars were minted in 1871, most of which were sold as part of minor and silver proof sets (David Bowers, 1993). The coin being sold in this lot displays some cameo tendencies, as the mildly frosted, sharply struck design features stand out against the deeply mirrored fields. Wisps of light gold-tan hug the margins, and a horizontal toning streak traverses the upper reverse. A few hard-to-see handling marks do not distract in the least. The obverse of the first generation PCGS holder exhibits a thin scratch from left to right.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
