1871-CC 25C VF20 Damaged, Fields Tooled Uncertified. Briggs 1-A, the only known dies. This second-year CC-mint Quarter shares its reverse with the 1870-CC, 1872-CC, and 1873-CC Arrows. Produced to the extent of just 10,890 pieces, the '71-CC, when available at all, is apt to grade no finer than VG. Even higher grade coins can be plagued by planchet problems, and finding an acceptable representative at any level of preservation is a difficult task. The present coin displays at least outline definition over the major design elements with some sharper detail here and there and a full LIBERTY on the obverse ribbon. Mottled blue and pink undertones are seen on the otherwise slate-gray surfaces, and a few swirls of charcoal-tan color are noted over the top of the reverse eagle. The surfaces are a little rough in texture with evidence of smoothing in he fields. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
