1871-CC $10 AU50 PCGS. Slight traces of doubling can be seen on the reverse; however, this is not the doubled die reverse variety that is recorded in Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia. The normal reverse variety is considered slightly scarcer by Breen, and both varieties survive from a mintage that was limited to just 8,085 coins. Perhaps the most important aspect of this date is survival of the fittest, and few examples survived that are still fit for collections today, as lower quality pieces certainly reached the melting pot in the 19th century. This attractive AU example is clearly one that is fit for a collection. The surfaces are slightly abraded, as usual for the grade, but both sides retain nearly full luster. Although lightly worn, this is a top quality example of the date. So far, PCGS has only certified one Mint State example of the issue. Population: 6 in 50, 8 finer (1/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
