<B>1871 $3 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> Only 1,300 three dollar pieces were coined in 1871, placing this among the rarest low-mintage business strike issues in the series. Fortunately for us today, a few far-sighted collectors of the 1870s put Mint State examples aside for their collections, thus examples are attainable today, given enough time. PCGS has certified 54 Mint State examples of this date, but only one is graded higher than this issue, and it is an amazing Superb Gem MS67 coin.
