<B>1871 $3 AU58 PCGS.</B></I> The upper obverse and lower reverse designs are typically weak on this example. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth attribute the weak strike to die wear or light pressure. Lightly mirrored fields are visible on both sides with subdued brilliance on the obverse. An extremely low mintage of 1,300 coins places the 1871 among the lowest dozen issues in the series.
