1871 $2.50 Liberty Quarter Eagle, Judd-1164, Pollock-1306, High R.7, PR63 Red and Brown PCGS. The regular dies for the 1871 Liberty Head quarter eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. These are generally considered to be "die trials" for the regular coinage, although they are probably pieces that were specifically intended for sale to collectors, along with similar pieces in aluminum and nickel. This piece is a lovely lilac-brown example with fully reflective fields. Considerable mint red remains along with attractive light blue toning. Less than 10 of these pieces exist in all metals combined, including four or five copper pieces.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
