1871 1C MS65 Red PCGS. Only 3.9 million Indian cents were struck in 1871, and as a result, high-grade pieces are especially elusive. Those who seek a fully Red example find the difficulty compounded. This is a blemish-free example whose only deterrent to an even higher grade is a minor amount of carbon, most visible as a single speck to the left of Liberty's nose. The strike is far better than the norm, with excellent definition on the feathers of the headdress and on the wreath. The main attraction for this piece, of course, is the reddish-orange of the surfaces, which displays only the slightest fading. An exceptionally desirable Gem, housed in a green label holder. Population: 16 in 65 Red, 2 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
