1871 10C Indian Princess Dime, Judd-1079, Pollock-1215, R.8, PR67 NGC. This is Longacre's Indian Princess design in a plain field, as described at Judd-1016. The reverse is the regular issue Seated Liberty dime design. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. Although most literature suggests that this pattern issue is R.7, it is now believed that just three pieces are known, according to Saul Teichman and USPatterns.com. In addition to this example, the Bass Collection had a PR65 piece identified by a tiny planchet flaw outside the wreath at 3:30 and the Bowers and Merena November 1988 sale had a piece graded PR60. The surfaces are dazzling and brilliant with deep reflectivity in the fields set against frosted devices that yield a pleasing cameo effect. Superb quality.
For the pedigree researcher, we offer the following Census:
PR67 NGC.
