<B>1870-S $10 XF40 NGC.</B></I> Unlike the three dollar gold piece of this date and mint, the 1870-S eagle is available to collectors, though between an original mintage of 8,000 pieces and heavy attrition, the number of survivors is small. This XF example shows light, even wear over the straw-gold surfaces. Well struck with light, scattered abrasions and a trace of original luster at the reverse periphery.
