1870-CC S$1 MS63 PCGS. Variety 2-B. The first 1870-CC Seated Liberty dollars were coined in early February of that year, and these were the first coins ever produced at the Carson City Mint, preceding the quarters and half dollars by two months and preceding the gold denominations by one to four weeks. In addition to their distinction as the first coins struck in Carson City, the Seated Liberty dollars are also the only 1870-CC coins of any denomination that can be obtained in higher grades. NGC and PCGS have combined to certify 30 examples in grades from MS60 to MS64. This example has sharp design details with fully lustrous satin surfaces beneath deep lilac-gray, sea-green, and iridescent toning. Population: 9 in 63, 1 finer (1/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
